Blessing Day

On November 30th, we were able to give Trey his baby blessing. We had both sides of the family in town and Trey's cousin, Lyla, was blessed the same day. It was such a wonderful time with family.

Here's Jim & Deena (Aaron's parents) with their two new grand babies.

Aaron gave Trey such a wonderful father's blessing. And luckily Trey didn't cry during it. Whew, I was worried about that. I was also worried he'd have a blow out all over his white blessing outfit. Luckily, that didn't happen either. The day went smoothly and none of my worries played out. Thank goodness.

Look at those chunky cheeks. They are just so kissable.

We took a lot of pictures, my mom was there so obviously we would. But we got some great ones with family.

Of course we took pictures of the babies together. They are just so cute!

Four Months Old

My baby is 4 months old already! How did that happen? Actually when I think about it, 4 months isn't really that long of a time and yet it feels like Trey has been a part of my life forever now. I can't remember what life was like without him - and I don't ever want to.

Seriously being a mom is awesome. Having a little nugget that interacts with you and has his own personality is so much fun. Trey is a really smiley guy. He smiles A LOT. And he laughs too. It's adorable.

He "talks" a lot and can roll over both ways. He's very strong too. All things that we get very excited about as parents but probably aren't that cool to other people. I remember the first time Trey started interacting with the toys dangling from his play mat, I sent a video to Aaron at work of Trey swatting at the toys. I really don't think anyone else in the world would find that video interesting except for us.

They just develop so fast it's fun to watch them grow. Speaking of growing, Trey had a check-up yesterday and he weighs 15 lbs 7oz which means he's in the 48th percentile for weight. And we were thinking he was a real chunk but it turns out he's just average. He's in the 84th percentile for height though at 26 inches and his head size is in the 44th percentile.

I love comparing him now to younger photos. Below are comparisons from 2 months to 4 months.

In the picture above he is two months old.

And below he's four months old.

He's got the chunks.

Now this picture below I absolutely love. He's two months old here.

I wanted to take the same pose marking his four months but he wouldn't just sit next to the kangaroo. He was constantly trying to put it in his mouth.

(4 months)

Here's two more photos from his two month shoot.

And here's the rest from his 4 month shoot.

If he's not putting something in his mouth he's constantly trying to grab his feet.

He looks like a little old man here. :)

He is so much fun now and such a good boy. (Shortly after I typed that sentence he spit up in my hair. . . thanks little dude.)

Lyla Mae

It's so great to have cousins close in age to you. I had at least one cousin on each side within a year or two of me. You always had someone to play with a family gatherings. So although Trey is the oldest grandchild on both sides of the family he won't be alone on the Mitchell side. Trey's cousin Lyla was born 5 weeks after him. They'll probably end up being "cousin crushes" which apparently is a thing according to the Mitchell boys. . . weirdos. ;)

Anyway meet Lyla Mae Mitchell.
Born on September 7th, 2014
8lbs 10oz & 20 inches long

The proud parents, Jake & Lizzy with their little angel just fresh from heaven!

Lyla was really alert for a newborn. Her eyes were open a lot, which was surprising to me. That was not the case with Trey.

She's a little sweetheart. Now she's a few weeks away from being two months old. And she's a pretty calm baby. She likes to just lounge and doesn't cry a lot, she mostly just grunts. Of course I am comparing her to Trey who likes to always be moving and has a good set of lungs.

These pictures of Trey and Lyla were taken a few weeks after she was born. They're the cutest.

Trey & His Daddy

There are some people who say Trey looks exactly like his dad. They can totally tell that he's Aaron's boy. Then there are some who say the opposite, that Trey looks like me. And then there are some who can't tell who he looks more like. I'm in the last group. I don't look at him and see predominately either myself or Aaron. What I do know for sure is that somehow we made one unbelievably cute kid. And I don't think that's just my mother bias talking. :)

Honestly though, if Trey turns out anything like his dad then I say we did a pretty good job at raising him.

Doesn't your heart just melt when you see your husband snuggled up with your baby? Mine does. Every single time. There is something so magical about it. Seeing Aaron as a father makes me love him so much more, and I didn't think it was possible to love him more than I already did.

Sorry for the mushy post but since having a baby I've become a million times more emotional. Seriously, the other day we were watching Disney's Brother Bear and I was a mess. It's embarrassing but true.

This is completely unrelated to my post, but this picture was the first time I captured Trey's smile on camera. What a ham.

One Month Old: Rewinding Back to September

So I just downloaded photos from my camera onto my computer. Which is why I am just posting about Trey turning a month old! I really am trying to stay on top of things but this mom business keeps me busy!

I took this picture a little bit before he turned a month old. I wanted to get a picture of him wearing this onesie before he grew out of it. He totally looks like a little old man here. :)

Trey turned a month old on Labor Day. So that weekend we were out and about a lot. We went up American Fork Canyon twice, once for a picnic and then for a hike up to Silver Lake.

Here are the picnic pictures.

We went on both adventures with our friends Harrison & Baylee and their new little guy, Grey.

Grey is two weeks older than Trey.

Seriously, that face. So kissable.

Although those pictures of our babies are nice and precious, this is what the majority of our time really looked like. . .

I don't know why I love that picture of Trey crying so much. Maybe because I find it somewhat humorous, sad, and cute all at the same time.

Anyway here are a few more of our little guy.

On Monday (Labor Day) we went on our hike. It was SO hard. Aaron and I hike Sliver Lake at least once every summer. So we had done it before and I guess it was kind of difficult, but nothing we couldn't handle. This time around I was so physically exhausted I didn't know if I could make it to the top. I had to stop a TON. . . and Aaron was the one carrying Trey. Luckily Baylee was in the same boat as me (you know not being in shape because we just had babies about a month ago) so we hiked together as our husbands beat us to the top with the babies.

But it was worth it. Silver Lake is so gorgeous and I didn't want to miss out on it this year. Plus I enjoy accomplishing hard things.

Trey was ready to go all wrapped up with his daddy.

Baylee, Harrison, & Grey at the top.

Aaron, Trey and I at the top.

The babies wore their dad's hats to keep their faces shaded so they wouldn't get sunburned.

It was an exhausting but fun day.

I of course had to take pictures of Trey to document him at one month. So here are a few that I got.

Man, I sure love this little guy!
